AHBC Back to better

(COVID-19 update: May 1, 2020)

Hello AHBC Family!
I hope that this letter finds everyone well.

I just wanted to share a few updates as we move towards reopening our building for worship. We are looking to potentially gather together again starting Sunday, May 10, 2020.

As we are all super excited to get back together we want to ensure AHBC is providing a healthy and safe environment to gather. Please know that every step is being taken to follow guidelines to ensure the health and safety and that we will continue to monitor the situation and follow guidelines given by health professionals, the city of San Antonio and the State of Texas. Here is some information for you and your family:

  • Starting May 10, 2020 AHBC will have two service opportunities. 9:00am and 10:30am. Service will still stream live on Facebook at 10:30am.
  • We encourage all to wear a face covering. Hand sanitizer will be available for all to use if needed.
  • At this time childcare is not available. However, we will have an activity kit available for toddlers and school age children.
  • There will be no Sunday morning or Wednesday night bible studies at the church building until further notice. We would love for you to join our various gatherings on Zoom.
  • Seating will be clearly marked out. Please help us follow social distancing measures and sit with only your household.
  • In-between services all seats and doors will be sanitized.
  • There will be a reserved seating place for seniors and anyone in a high risk category if they would like to sit there.
  • During this transition we will not have a greeting time or collect offering. There will be a designated place for offerings or you can give online through our website.
  • If you have any questions or thought please feel free to contact me at anytime.

We are so grateful and excited to get back to gathering! Let's be the example in being wise and thoughtful for the safety and health of all in our community. Thank you for being AHBC Family! Please be prayerful for all during this transition time; know that if you do not feel comfortable gathering, it is ok to stay home. This is just the beginning as we look forward to "getting back to better"!

Love and Peace,

Bobby Contreras

covid-19 update

MARCH 23, 2020

Evening Friends!
Our mayor has just given an update on the current progress of COVID-19 in San Antonio. Along with that update, city leaders have issued a “Stay Home, Work Safe” order that is asking all residents to stay home unless they are doing an exempt activity. While this may sound frightening to some, rest assured that the Lord wants us to have peace over panic and faith over fear.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
{1 Peter 5:7}

As we are obedient to what are leaders are asking, we also need to be obedient to the Lord through our prayers and petition. I am calling us as a church family to join in corporate prayer for the needs and healing of our country and those around the globe, all healthcare workers, first responders, and the end of the virus. Would you join me starting tomorrow, and continuing everyday for the next 7 days to pray from 12:00pm to 12:10. While we cannot have community side-by-side, we can still call one another or pray through text, social media, or other meeting platforms. Whether you are at home or still working let's be intentional in taking this moment together.

Here are some bible verses that you can pray:

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;your rod and your staff, they comfort me. {Psalm 23:4}

The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid?  {Psalm 27:1}

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. {Psalm 34:4}

Use this time to call those you have been thinking of, check in on people that the Lord has placed on your heart, and be purposeful with your devotional time. If there are any needs you may be having that we can help with please email me back or feel free to call or text me at (210)621-4983. I will do my best to help in any way I can.

We will be live-streaming our Sunday service again this Sunday beginning at 9:30 on our Facebook page. Grab a cup of coffee and have your breakfast as we dive into God’s word together.

Much love friends!

Bobby C.

COVID-19 Update

March 17, 2020

Hello AHBC family!
I wanted to send a note concerning next steps in regards to our church gatherings.

Yesterday, March 16th, Mayor Nirenburg has issued a public health emergency declaration prohibiting public gatherings of 50 or more people. This includes indoor public and private gatherings and outdoor gatherings within an enclosed space.

With that information we have made the decision to suspend all AHBC activities on and off campus from March 17th through at least April 6th. After this date we will revisit the situation and communicate going forward.

We would like to invite you all to join us online! We will continue with our worship, prayer, and Sunday series. Click here to see our Facebook page where services will be streaming live. Here is our NEW Sunday Schedule:

AHBC ONLINE
9:30am via Facebook

Enjoy along with us while having coffee, cereal or toast with the whole family.

Though school, business, and community functions are being halted, the opportunity to do ministry does not stop. It is easy to be fearful or anxious in times like these, so we encourage you and your families to help us tell the story of love, hope, and trust in Christ during this pandemic.

If you have any question or if you have any immediate needs please connect me:

We have put together bags of supplies for any households who might need the assistance.

Much love to all,

Bobby Contreras

    We will be postponing all Wednesday night gatherings until further notice. We would love for you to take this time to enjoy your family and gather in small groups.

  • prayer

    This Sunday, Baptist around the country are taking part in a day of prayer in the midst of this global pandemic. Pray fervently: that God, in His mercy, would stop the pandemic and save lives in our communities and around the world; that leaders would direct us in the best course of action for prevention and care; that first responders and healthcare workers would have courage and strength to fight this disease; that many would turn to God.
